What is Support Dock ?

Support Dock is a value added service made available to our customers. These value added services will be made available to our customers by deploying an iYogi branded desktop Support Dock, which will include components like PC Optimization, Easy Contact options etc. These services will be offered to all our annual subscribers at no additional cost.

Is it easy to use?

Support Dock is very easy to install and use. It is extremely user friendly and very secure as well.

How can I download and install Support Dock?

To install Support Dock you need to download it from iYogi website link. Do the following steps to install support Dock.
Simply Open www.iYogi.net/sd or www.iYogi.net/download/sd a click on the DOWNLOAD button, and follow the instructions to install Support Dock.

Do I have to stay connected to the Internet to use the Support Dock?

No, but it is recommended to ensure that you get the latest updates. Some applications, however, require Internet connection to work like Push to Talk and Live Help etc.

Can I move the Support Dock to the desktop?

Yes, it has fully customizable features like resizing, positioning, auto-hide, animation, transparency, etc. to name a few

Can I add / remove any other application in the Support Dock ?

Yes, you can add any application by simply dragging and dropping it in the Support Dock. Similarly, you can simply drag any icon out of the Support Dock to remove it.

Can I remove any existing pre-installed component from the Support Dock ?

Yes, you can remove any existing components from the Support Dock by unchecking that component from Preferences.

Can I download and install the Support Dock on a different computer?

No you will not be able to install Support Dock on another computer with the same subscription. You will have to buy another subscription in order to use it on a second computer.

Does the Support Dock captures any personal Information?

No, the Support Dock does not captures any personal information. The Support Dock configuration file contains only the following information (which is already available to iYogi):

  • End User Name
  • User ID
  • Password
  • Access Code
  • Subscription ID
  • Device ID
  • Favorite Technician
  • Phone Number
  • Email address
  • My iYogi

What are tickets?

Tickets are the record of all your interaction with iYogi in an effort to resolve the problem.

What other interactions are stored?

Only the history of all the interactions with iYogi will be stored and displayed. No other personal information, apart from those mentioned above, will be captured or stored.

What computer information can be viewed and changed?

Your computer information which you have provided earlier to our technicians for troubleshooting will be stored and displayed. You can also update the information from your end and it would be updated in our records. For e.g. if you buy a new printer and add it in your list then the next time you call iYogi, our technicians will already know that you have bought a printer.


Live Help

What is Live Help?

It’s a simple and convenient way to contact an iYogi technician. Once you download and install the Support Dock, Live Help will be available on your Support Dock in the form of an icon. Whenever you need help, simply click on the icon to start a remote session instanly. You would also have the option to choose your preferred technician in the coming versions.

Why would I want this on my computer?

The convenience factor. It makes it easy for you to contact us and help is always handy, whenever you need it.

Will this Live Help remote session collect personal / business information or track computer usage? In other words, is it a spyware?

Absolutely not. This support tool is designed to help you contact us immediately when you need it the most. It does not contain any spyware or tracks any computer usage.

Can anyone from iYogi take control of my PC without me knowing about it?

No, iYogi ensures complete security to all its subscribers. No one from iYogi can access your PC automatically. Only you can initiate the help session from your PC and until and unless you give the permission, no one from iYogi will be able to access your PC. You would also have the rights to disconnect the session at any given point of time.


Push To Talk

What is Push to Talk?

Push to Talk is a simple tool which saves you the hassle of calling up Technical Support and waiting in the Queue. You can simply enter your preferred contact number and within a few minutes, you will get a call from our side. Instead of you calling us, our Technical Support Representative will call you and help you with any query you may have.

Do I need a separate phone line for this feature?

No separate phone line is required; you will be receiving the call in the same number that you provided to us. In case you want us to call us on a different number (Mobile number, for instance), you can use that number, and the call will be made on the phone number of your choice.

Can I schedule my callback request?

Not at the moment. It will soon be available in a future release.

What if I am not available when the technician calls?

The technician would leave a voicemail stating the next date and time of his call.

Can I cancel an already created callback request?

Not at the moment. It will soon be available in a future release.


My iYogi

What is My iYogi?

My iYogi is a Members-only Area available to all our subscribers, which provides you quick access to your Subscription details, along with options to check your Billing History, Contact Details for various support options, access to Help etc.

I can’t login to My iYogi. What should I do?

In case you do not remember your details, or if the details you are entering are not being accepted, simply call our 24 x 7 Helpline and we will reset the password for you.


Home Net Manager

What is Home Net Manager?

Home Net Manager is an application that audits your home network. It provides a simple to use graphical display of all elements of the home network including PC’s, wireless and wired routing devices, digital video recorders, and gaming consoles. It also helps you diagnose and fix problems in your network, share files and folders, set up a network printer and perform many other useful tasks with relative ease.

Which operating systems does Home Net Manager work with?

Home Net Manager runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7

Why should I use Home Net Manager?

Home Net Manager can be used for performing the following tasks with relative ease:

  • Share Files and Folder within your home network
  • Share Printers within your home network
  • Check / Diagnose your network security
  • Diagnose connection problems
  • Setup Wireless connection
  • Configure Digital Home - A graphical representation of the way all your networked devices are connected in your house

How can I share my files & folders or printers with other computers in my house?

On the Home Page for Home Net Manager, you can either click on the Right hand side section on "Share Folders within my Home Network" or "Share printers within my Home Network" link or click on Tools in the Menu bar, choose Network Sharing and select the option for sharing Files / Folders or Printers. It is very easy to use and you can easily follow the instructions and do it yourself. Can Home Net Manager help me if my internet is not working?

Yes. Although, Home Net Manager may not always be able to fix the problem immediately, but it will still diagnose and give you an accurate idea about the problem which might be causing problem with your internet connection. If it is a system related issue, Home Net Manager might be able to fix it for you too.

Do I still need a firewall if I have Home Net Manager installed?

Home Net Manager is not a replacement to your Firewall. It is recommended that a Firewall should be installed and turned on to get network security. Home Net Manager is a network analysis application, which audits and continues to monitor your network. It can notify you in case of any security threats on your network, but it will not be able to stop or block the threat. It is not a security software.


Green PC

What is Green PC?

Green PC is a small and simple-to-use application that helps you save power / energy being consumed by your computer, and managing those settings as per your choice. If used appropriately, the Green PC app can help you save over $200 in a year!

Which setting should I use in Green PC?

You can choose either of the 4 settings depending on your computer usage. If your usage is high, select Low Mode, to allow your computer to run longer before going in power save mode. If you use your computer infrequently, you can choose High so that the computer will go to the power saving mode if it's not in use for only a little while. You can always choose Custom and select all the settings yourself.

What is Smart PC Care?

Smart PC Care is a part of the PC Optimization feature provided freely via Support Dock. It helps you perform a one-click PC tune-up of your system without having to go through multiple technical steps. The tune-up scans, cleans and optimizes the disk space as well as system registry, and scans and removes malware too.

What all can I use the Smart PC Care for?

Smart PC Care consists of various tools, which can be used for:

Registry Cleaner:For cleanup of Windows Registry.
System Cleaner:
For cleanup of junk files, temp files etc.
Registry Optimizer:
Optimizes the Windows Registry For better performance.
Disk Optimizer:

You can access the Scheduler either by click on the Protection & Update tab on the Smart PC Care window, or clicking on the Scheduler tab available under almost all individual utilities, which are a part of Smart PC Care. You can also select other options like, Automatically fixing the detected problems, or shut down the computer after use, etc. while setting up a schedule.


PC Support

What is PC Support?

PC Support is the second half of the PC Optimization and Computer Maintenance feature of Support Dock. It is a central panel that provides some advanced technical utilities used for deeper troubleshooting and maintenance of your system. Although it’s advisable to use these utilities only in the presence of an iYogi technician, a tech-savvy user can utilize these useful apps to further enhance and tweak their system state.


What all can I use PC Support for?

PC Support utilities are divided in 2 sections: Data Security & Backup and PC Maintenance

Is it safe to use PC Support on my own?

Most of the utilities under PC Maintenance are easy to use, and can be used by any Tech Savvy user. If you have the slightest doubt, or if you wish to use the components under Data Security & Backup, it is recommended you call our Technical Support and let them do it for you. You can also ask them to tell you how to use the tools, so that you can do it yourself in future, if you wish to do so.

It is a small and simple interface for you to check out all direct communications from iYogi, which could be regarding important updates, service changes, or just on a promotional level.

Summary

You can establish instant remote connection with one of iYogi’s Support Profesional if you require any help in fixing your PC. Through our unique routing technology your request would be routed to the most appropriate Technician based on the nature of issue faced. Our Technician will then fix your PC remotely from iYogi so that you don’t have to do the troubleshooting and spend hours over the phone.

Initiate a Session:

1. Click on Live Help button on Support Dock

2. Live Help window will open up.

3. Click on the drop down button under Issue faced with and select the appropriate issue and click on GO

4. You will get a prompt to click on, choose "Run" to install the remote client application which will connect you to an iYogi Support Professional

5. Click on "Accept" or "Yes" buttons, wherever prompted

6. Once you give your permission, iYogi Support Professional can start working on your computer to fix your issue.

Join a Session:

1. Click on Live Help button on Support Dock

2. Live Help window will open up.

3. Click on the Join Remote Session tab on the left side of Live Help

4. Type in the key in Session Key provided by iYogi Support Professional and press the Join button

5. You will get a prompt to click on, choose "Run" to install the remote client application which will connect you to an iYogi Support Professional

6. Click on "Accept" or "Yes" button, wherever prompted

7. Once you grant your permission, iYogi Support Professional can start working on your computer to fix your issue.

Working with Preferences

Working with Preferences in Support Dock

Preferences allows you to change the look and feel of the Support Dock. Customization options allow the change of color, transparency, icon transition etc. You can also Add/Remove icons in the Support Dock.

You can launch Preferences by either of the two following methods:

Click on Preferences button of iYogi Support Dock.
Right click on the Support Dock icon in system tray and then click on Preferences

General

Under General tab we have following options.

Enable/Disable Widgets: By checking/Un checking we can enable/ Disable Widgets in iYogi Support Dock.
Automatic Update Settings: By using this option we can set the update settings for iYogi Support Dock. If customer wants to update the Support Dock automatically or manually, we can select the respective options.
Start at startup: On selecting this option Support Dock will start at startup. If customer doesn’t want to start the Support Dock at startup we can uncheck this option.
Bandwidth limit: We can also set bandwidth limit for downloading of Support Dock.

After making changes click on Apply and the click on OK to apply the changes

Under this tab we will get the following options:

Theme: By using this options we can change the background as well as we can maximize and minimize the transparency of the background of iYogi Support Dock.

Position on Desktop: By using this option we can move the Support Dock to the right, left, top & bottom of the desktop.
Show/Hide: We can also set an option to automatically hide or to always show the Support Dock.
Icon Quality: We can also change the icon qualities of Support Dock to high or low.

Magnification

Under this option we will get the following options:

Enable Support Dock animation: We can change the annimation effect by enabling/Disabling this feature.
Magnification: We can change the magnification of the Support Dock. We can increase or decrease the size of the Support Dock.
Magnification Mode: We can change the mode of magnification to wide or narrow range.
Dock Size: We can also change the size of the Widgets present in Support Dock.

Components

It shows the list of available components which will launch at Startup. You can uncheck the components of Support Dock you do not wish to auto start.
It also shows the list of components which are not available for download anymore. They will be in the list only if you selected the option at the time of Component Updation.

When we move the mouse over the Support Dock, it describes the different options. We can change the fonts, size and colors of label, edge and shadow. We can also preview the changes on selecting different colors, fonts, size.

Skin Chooser

You can select the Skin for Support Dock from this tab. You can choose it to be displayed in the Dock mode (All the icons in a single row or a column) or Tablet View, where all the icons will be arranged inside a window.
