Hub and switch

A home network set up allows all your computer systems access the Internet at the same time. Hubs and switches help to connect all of your computer systems together but they work in very different ways. A network switch and hub can be used as the central networking devices to allow many computer systems to access an Internet connection and share files.

Firewall, cable and router

Firewalls are commonly used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks that are connected to the Internet. Firewalls examine all messages that are entering or leaving the Intranet and block those that do not meet the specified security criteria. Cables are the one which act as a link between various devices. Routers perform same functions as switches. The major function of routers is the ability to join several networks together and act as a gateway device between them.
